Tatcha, the luxury skincare brand renowned for its artisanal approach and Japanese roots, has appointed Diane Kim as its new chief executive officer effective February 9th. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Kim comes to Tatcha from her role as senior vice president of global marketing at The Estée Lauder Companies. Most recently, she served as an industry advisor at the investment management firm Advent International since 2024. Her impressive background also includes being the global brand president of Laura Mercier, Bareminerals, and Buxom, brands acquired by Advent International.
Kim takes over the reins from Mary Yee, who left Tatcha in October 2025. The brand made headlines in 2019 when it was acquired by Unilever for about $500 million. Following this significant acquisition, founder Vicky Tsai stepped away, only to return during the COVID-19 pandemic to revitalize the brand after facing two challenging years of sales decline. Although Tsai was succeeded by Yee, she remains an influential figure within Tatcha.
In her initial statement, Kim emphasized a strategy centered on global expansion. The brand is actively looking to strengthen its presence in the UK, Europe, and Asia, showcasing its unique blend of heritage and innovation.
