BAGS OF STYLE: What’s inside Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 bag? Surprisingly, his Grammy awards! The day following the prestigious music event in February, the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton gave fans a sneak peek on Instagram of his striking yellow crocodile leather Monogram bag.

Inside the bag, he showcased his Dr. Dre Global Impact Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, alongside another hidden statuette likely related to the Clipse track “Chains and Whips,” which won Best Rap Performance featuring Williams and Kendrick Lamar.

This glimpse served as an exciting precursor to Vuitton’s inaugural advertisements for the Speedy P9, an elegant calfskin leather iteration introduced in Williams’ debut spring 2024 collection.

Launching the “In My Bag” campaign, which was expertly photographed by Thomas Lagrange, the campaign features still-life imagery showcasing personal items from brand ambassadors and friends of the luxury house, including notable figures like Jeremy Allen White, LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, Future, Jude Bellingham, and Jackson Wang.

Each of these bags acts as a unique snapshot into the lives and careers of their owners. New Vuitton ambassador Jeremy Allen White’s green Speedy P9 is filled with a newspaper, a spiral notebook, a baseball cap, a comb, a watch, a set of dice, extra socks, and a charging cord.

“Being so far from home, it’s crucial to have something that grounds me; a reminder of my roots and my journey,” explained the actor famously known for his role as chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in the acclaimed series “The Bear.”

LeBron James, who also received a yellow version of the Speedy P9, utilizes his bag to store essentials such as golf balls, tees, grooming items, and his favorite baseball cap.

“It’s about blocking out distractions. My mindset is my strongest asset on and off the court, and I’ve learned to carry items that help keep me centered,” stated the multi-time NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, and basketball icon.

In a playful twist, Victor Wembanyama’s turquoise Speedy P9 reflects his personality, adorned with an alien motif charm, containing a mini basketball, a deck of cards, a lucky spur, and wired headphones.

Future’s large blue Speedy bag is bursting with a tennis racket, a diamond-accented gold chain, a Monogram charm necklace, gummy treats, and fresh sneakers. Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham has packed his red bag with aviator sunglasses, travel essentials like a plane ticket and passport, an official jersey, Louis Vuitton’s Ombre Nomade fragrance, and a keychain with personalized fobs.

Jackson Wang has put some flair into his pink Speedy P9 with fuzzy dice charms, housing professional headphones, a Polaroid picture of family, a fencing glove, music notations, a Rubik’s Cube, and a mini sneaker, among other intriguing items.

The campaign officially launched across print platforms globally and on Vuitton’s social media channels last Friday, showcasing how fashion not only reflects personal style but also encapsulates stories and memories.

With its artistic presentation and innovative approach to personal narratives, Louis Vuitton continues to solidify its status as a pillar in luxury fashion, pushing boundaries while connecting with the world through its iconic Speedy P9 bag line.
