LONDON — Coach is making a significant statement in the fashion world with its latest initiative at Selfridges, where it has launched a pop-up experience designed specifically for Gen Z. Dubbed the Coach Charm Playground, this engagement unfolds at the Corner Shop, offering visitors not just a shopping opportunity but also a unique, memorable experience.

This playful venue is open from Monday until May 23 and aims to foster community spirit while providing an escape from the everyday hustle. Aligning itself with contemporary retail trends, Coach has crafted an environment where shopping is just one of many engaging activities.

A standout feature of the playground is the reimagined Rexy, Coach’s dinosaur mascot, transformed into a slide that appeals to guests of all ages. Visitors can capture their memories in an apple-shaped photo booth— a clever reference to the brand’s New York roots—allowing them to take home tangible mementos.

Indeed, Coach is embracing a nostalgic yet trendy approach to retail engagement.

At this pop-up, the iconic Tabby bag takes center stage, showcased as an oversized interactive display that doubles as a monogramming station. Guests can personalize their items, enhancing their shopping experience with unique touches. Additionally, Coach has partnered with local fine-line tattoo artist The Social for a four-week residency, adding another layer of creativity and community involvement.

Matteo De Bortoli Albricci, the brand’s senior vice president and general manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed excitement about this collaboration with Selfridges. He noted that the initiative reflects Coach’s commitment to engaging authentically with the UK market while promoting self-expression and community participation—a theme central to their spring 2026 campaign.

As Coach continues to carve its niche in the region, this activation allows them to bring their heritage alive in a dynamic way that places customers at the forefront of the experience.

Shoppers can explore a diverse range of Tabby styles, from timeless pebble leather to quilted suede options, available in classic shades like black, chalk, and warm brown. Exclusive colors, including vibrant fuchsia and serene sky blue, further enrich the offering.

Coach’s pop-up also features a selection of its New York family of bags, including various styles such as the Empire and Brooklyn, along with new Kisslock and Turnlock designs. Limited offerings of runway-ready apparel and accessories promise to entice fashion enthusiasts.

“We aimed to create a whimsical haven where visitors could reconnect with their inner child amid the noise of modern life,” stated Giovanni Zaccariello, senior vice president of visual experience at Coach. “The overarching theme of charms encapsulates our philosophy of playful self-expression, breathing new life into the classic Coach ethos.”

Coach’s charm-centric strategy has included storytelling elements such as the series of readable book charms featured in the brand’s spring campaign “Explore Your Story.” This creative marketing, which highlighted stars like Elle Fanning, aligns with Coach’s support for the Sunnie Reads book club, a popular initiative aimed at Gen Z readers.

As a part of a growing trend, Coach joins a cadre of fashion brands like Miu Miu, Dior, and Bottega Veneta that emphasize the importance of literature and storytelling for digitally savvy generations.

This innovative approach has proven successful; in its most recent fiscal quarter, Coach significantly boosted the performance of its parent company, Tapestry. The brand, which pioneered the concept of “accessible luxury” over two decades ago, reported a 25 percent sales increase, reaching $2.1 billion for the quarter ending December 27.

Through initiatives like the Coach Charm Playground, the brand not only reaffirms its market position but also enriches the consumer experience—turning shopping into a vibrant interaction filled with creativity, community, and a bit of nostalgia for the fun of childhood.
