The Milano Unica textiles trade show, an essential event in the fashion calendar, has recently achieved a noteworthy milestone with a 10% increase in international visitors. Held from July 8-10, 2025, in the heart of Milan, this 41st edition showcased the Fall/Winter 2026-27 collections from various designers, featuring premium fabrics and accessories for men, women, and children. Although there was positive growth in visitor numbers from most markets where Italy exports its textiles, it’s unfortunate to note a decline from specific regions—visitor numbers from China dipped by 3.5%, while Korea experienced a more significant drop of 14%.
However, the silver lining is found in the impressive increases from other countries: the Netherlands saw a remarkable rise of 46%, Germany enjoyed a 33% boost, the UK increased by 23%, followed by the US at 16%, France at 14%, and Japan at 9.5%. This influx not only underscores the global allure of Italian textiles but also signifies a broader appreciation for quality fabric sourcing and design.
Interestingly, international visitors accounted for 45% of the total attendance, highlighting the event’s welcoming reach beyond local borders. The number of exhibitors also experienced growth, rising to 735, fueled by an 8.7% increase in European exhibitors. This collective rise speaks volumes about the industry’s resilience and its continual appeal to global markets.
Simone Canclini, president of Milano Unica, expressed cautious optimism about the future in light of the show’s results. “Almost all the main markets for Italian exports of fabrics and accessories, both in the EU and outside the EU, have responded positively. While the results, which I hope will be positive, will be seen in 2026, the satisfactory attendance figures of foreign buyers—something I’ve gathered from extensive positive feedback among fellow exhibitors—makes us look to the future with moderate optimism.” This sentiment embodies a shared experience among participants and attendees alike, marking a resurgence in global interest in quality textile production.
Massimo Mosiello, the managing director of Milano Unica, emphasized the collaborative efforts that contributed to this successful edition of the show. “The exceptional results we have achieved in this edition of the show are the fruit of our teamwork, and they confirm the strategic role Milano Unica plays in supporting Italy’s textile and fashion industries, which is also evident in our partnership with the MarediModa show.”
In a world where fashion and textiles are constantly evolving, these developments at Milano Unica serve as both a celebration of creativity and a reason for hope. The interconnection between countries and cultures through shared appreciation for quality materials and skilled craftsmanship exemplifies the enduring relevance of textile shows like Milano Unica. It truly connects us through the stories woven into every fabric and the shared experiences of those who create and appreciate them.
