Milano Unica, one of the fashion industry’s premier textile trade shows, marked its 41st edition with an impressive milestone—a 10% rise in international attendees. Taking place in Milan from July 8 to 10, 2025, the event drew professionals and creatives from around the globe to preview Fall/Winter 2026-27 fabric and accessory collections for menswear, womenswear, and childrenswear.
While Italy’s export markets generally showed strong participation, the event did see slight setbacks from a few key regions. Visitor turnout from China declined by 3.5%, and South Korea reported a steeper 14% drop. Despite these dips, the overall international presence remained robust, signaling resilience and broad global interest in Italian textile craftsmanship.
Several countries reported double-digit increases in attendance: the Netherlands led with a stunning 46% growth, followed by Germany (33%), the United Kingdom (23%), the United States (16%), France (14%), and Japan (9.5%). With international guests making up 45% of the total foot traffic, the event proved to be a powerful magnet for buyers and brands beyond Italy’s borders.
Exhibitor participation also reflected renewed confidence in the sector. This year saw 735 exhibitors, supported by an 8.7% uptick in participation from European companies. These figures underscore a collective industry effort to re-engage global partners and highlight the evolving demand for high-quality, sustainable textiles.
Simone Canclini, President of Milano Unica, spoke with measured optimism about the results:
“Nearly all the key markets for Italian fabrics and accessories—both within and outside the EU—responded positively. We won’t fully understand the impact until 2026, but the engagement from foreign buyers has been incredibly encouraging.”
Canclini noted the positive feedback from fellow exhibitors, which he said reflects broader optimism about the industry’s direction and potential recovery post-pandemic and amidst shifting global trade dynamics.
Managing Director Massimo Mosiello also attributed the show’s success to collaboration and strategic partnerships. “These outcomes are the result of team synergy,” he stated. “They reaffirm Milano Unica’s position as a cornerstone for promoting Italy’s textile and fashion sectors. Our alignment with MarediModa further strengthens this platform.”
As the textile and apparel industries continue to evolve with innovations in design, sustainability, and technology, Milano Unica serves as more than just a trade fair. It stands as a cultural and economic touchstone—bridging continents, connecting creators, and driving the appreciation of fine materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The rise in international interest at this year’s edition suggests a positive trajectory for Italian textiles and an industry-wide push for quality and creativity that transcends borders.
