Karol G’s Tequila: A Star-Studded Spirit Beyond Ordinary Collaborations

    Karol G's Tequila

Karol G has undoubtedly made waves in the music industry since the launch of her groundbreaking album “Mañana Será Bonito.” This album marked a significant milestone as the first all-Spanish album by a female artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She achieved a record for the largest US streaming week for a Latin album by a woman, outpacing the iconic Shakira. Since that launch, she has made history as the first Latina to headline a stadium tour and has sold out venues across the globe.

Success often comes with its own challenges. Karol has been on an endless journey since her album’s debut, with fans witnessing this relentless pace in her Netflix documentary. She candidly shares the difficulty of carving out personal time amidst her busy schedule. Fast forward two years, and the challenge remains. While she actively seeks a better work-life balance, finding a moment of peace is often elusive.

“You pour your heart into work every single day, and before you know it, another challenge awaits. Sometimes, you catch these fleeting moments where it hits you — wow, this is happening,” she confides in Popsugar. “I’ve been making an effort to truly recognize everything taking place around me because the whirlwind keeps me so busy that I often forget to appreciate it.”

Fortunately, Karol leans on her tight-knit circle of family and friends who have supported her throughout her journey.

“The friends I have today are the ones I’ve kept close, many for over a decade. When I get a day off, I immediately bring them along to celebrate with me. It’s my way of acknowledging my achievements,” she explains.

Indeed, her accolades are numerous. She has received countless awards, including several Latin Grammys and a Grammy for Best Música Urbana. This year alone, she released her sophomore album, “Tropicoqueta,” premiered her Netflix documentary “Karol G: Tomorrow Is Beautiful,” and headlined the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Even amid her packed schedule, she has partnered with tequila brand Casa Dragones and CEO Bertha Gonzàlez Nieves to craft their inaugural cristalino expression, 200 Copas, inspired by her successful song of the same name.

“Collaborating with Casa Dragones was significant to me because it has become my favorite tequila. The moment I tasted Casa Dragones, I knew I wanted to be a part of this brand,” she shares. “Finding out that Bertha was at the helm made this collaboration all the more meaningful, representing cultural heritage and empowerment.”

Aligning with her roots, the launch for 200 Copas was held at the Casa Dragones house in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, celebrated during the vibrant Día de los Muertos weekend. This occasion not only holds cultural significance but marked Karol’s first immersive experience of the festival. She honored her grandmother by bringing a photo to place on the altar and offered her new tequila in tribute to her ancestors.

The two-day launch featured a thought-provoking panel with Karol and Casa Dragones CEO Bertha González, an intimate dinner curated by Chef Daniela Soto-Innes, and an electrifying pre-party at Sala de Despecho — where Karol led a karaoke extravaganza singing Spanish heartbreak classics alongside enthusiastic fans. This lively celebration culminated in a dance party back at Casa Dragones. The meticulous planning reflects not only Karol’s dedication but also her deep-rooted commitment to honoring culture and Latin heritage.

Reflecting on her journey, Karol notes, “This collaboration arrives at a pivotal moment in my career. I’ve worked hard for years, often waiting for a breakthrough that took time to arrive. Now, post-2020, I’m witnessing the fruits of my labor, and this partnership couldn’t be more timely. This experience has provided me with invaluable insights that align with the vision I have for our unique brand.”

Karol frequently acknowledges her Latine roots, crediting her community for her achievements. Her documentary features candid moments demonstrating her gratitude. It was this appreciation that fueled the creation of “Tropicoqueta,” her most authentically Latina project yet. This album showcases her pride and dedication to honoring her cultural heritage.

“This is the most Latina album I’ve produced to date,” she asserts. “Touring globally allows me to represent not just a single flag but the flags of all of our countries. Performing with authentic Latina flair while staying true to myself, it’s exhilarating and beautiful.”

While the year has presented its challenges for the Latino community, Karol emphasizes the resilience and triumphs of Latines in entertainment, with stars like herself and Bad Bunny breaking unprecedented records previously dominated by English-language artists. At the same time, she remains acutely aware of the difficulties facing their communities in the US — from immigration challenges to cuts in crucial programs.

“I find joy in the incredible achievements of Latinos, yet there’s a somber undertone. My latest album reflects that duality,” she reflects.

Karol passionately adds, “Sharing my story is a part of my mission, and it’s surreal to witness the success I’ve achieved through my music—particularly as I embrace every facet of my Latina identity. The love I receive from my fans, who proudly wave their flags at my concerts, inspires me to remain a source of comfort and pride for my people.”
