Flowing Space, an interdisciplinary gallery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, announces the opening of Chaser in the Mist, a dual exhibition featuring fashion designer Yangyang Xu and visual artist Brunela Ramirez, on September 28, 2025. The exhibition will showcase Xu’s acclaimed fashion collection Ravens alongside new installation works by Ramirez, creating a dialogue between contemporary fashion and visual art in the gallery’s space.
At the center of the exhibition is Xu’s acclaimed project Ravens, a fashion collection shaped by gothic poetics and cinematic references. Inspired by the haunting atmosphere of Hitchcock and the dark lyricism of Edgar Allan Poe, Xu has created sculptural silhouettes, laser-cut textiles, and experimental print designs that carry the aura of both myth and modernity. In New York, Ravens is presented for the first time in a hybrid format that combines fashion and moving image: alongside garments and fabric samples, projected films create an immersive art experience, inviting audiences to encounter fashion in a gallery context.
Recognized as one of the most outstanding fashion designers of her generation, Yangyang Xu has already established an international presence. A graduate of Donghua University and Kingston University, she has presented work on global stages from Arts of Fashion competition, where she was named a Top 50 finalist, to the MA Fashion Exhibition at Gallery Different in London, where her graduate collection was hand-selected for presentation. In China, her designs were featured in the Asian New Generation Fashion Exhibition, and in New York she has contributed to Alexander Wang’s Spring/Summer 2026 show, where her graphic artworks became defining elements of the collection. Xu is recognized within the industry for her originality, technical mastery, and ability to translate narrative concepts into striking visual form.
With Chaser in the Mist, Flowing Space highlights Yangyang Xu as a designer whose vision resonates far beyond the runway. Her work exemplifies how contemporary fashion can serve as cultural storytelling, merging research, craftsmanship, and aesthetic daring into unforgettable experiences. The exhibition affirms her position as a leading creative voice in international fashion design, underscoring why her name is increasingly recognized among the field’s most innovative practitioners.
