Crocs Launches Eco-Friendly Takeback Program In The UK And Europe To Combat Waste

US footwear brand Crocs is taking a significant step forward in its mission for a more sustainable future by expanding its ‘Old Crocs. New Life’ program into the UK and mainland Europe. This initiative is all about giving your well-loved shoes a second chance, and it’s a move that invites both eco-conscious consumers and loyal Crocs fans to participate actively in sustainability.

Originally launched in the US in 2024, the program saw a warm reception from consumers eager to contribute to a more circular economy—a model that promotes reusing and recycling. Now, Crocs is making it easier than ever for customers in the UK, Germany, France, Austria, and the Netherlands to join in. They’re setting up collection boxes at their retail and outlet locations, encouraging everyone to drop off Crocs in any state. Whether your shoes are a bit worn, outgrown, or have simply been tucked away in a corner, every pair counts!

When customers donate their old Crocs through this program, they’re not just decluttering their closets—they’re also getting a little something in return: a 15% discount on their next in-store purchase. It’s a win-win! The donated footwear is sent off for recycling in partnership with FastFeet Grinded, an organization dedicated to sustainable practices. From these donations, Crocs has already begun producing their first-ever recycled footwear, the ‘Keep It Going Recycled Classic Clog.’ Made with 25% post-consumer recycled materials, these clogs represent a pioneering step toward more environmentally friendly fashion.

This new chapter for Crocs comes at an exciting time, as the brand prepares to open a new store in the London Designer Outlet mall in Wembley later this year. This store, spanning 1,456 square feet, will showcase a diverse range of products for adults and kids. Expect to see their iconic clogs, trendy sandals, and even some fresh styles that are sure to catch the eye of fashion-forward shoppers. Not to mention, the takeback scheme will be front and center, making it easier for visitors to embrace sustainable choices while shopping.

Matt Slade, the retail director at Quintain—the property investment and development company driving the vision of Wembley Park—highlighted Crocs’ appeal in today’s market. “Crocs is a globally recognized brand that taps into the huge footwear trend among the dynamic, young, and brand-savvy shopper demographic that we see here,” he remarked. This emphasizes how the footwear brand resonates with consumers who are not just looking for comfort but also for a meaningful way to engage with sustainability.

In a world increasingly aware of environmental concerns, Crocs is setting an example by encouraging a circular model of production and consumption. It’s a reminder that even small actions, like donating a pair of old shoes, can lead to significant impact. So, that pair of Crocs you’re thinking about tossing? Think twice—your contribution can help pave the way for a greener future, one pair at a time.
